New Customer Service Policy

Hello Davisynth community,

I work on Davisynth as a weekend project while pursuing my PhD in Electrical Engineering. 

Making plugins is extremely rewarding, but as the number of customers has grown, most of my time has been spent on customer service and I am now spread too thin. This has significantly slowed down development for new features. It has also led to me not being able to run promotional discounts due to the huge volume of customer service work that comes with them.

As a result:

  1. The software is too expensive because running promotions creates customer service work
  2. The software never gets updated because I spend all my time on customer service work

Today I am taking Davisynth in a new direction. All Davisynth software is now $12. However, there are major changes to the customer service experience. I will no longer offer 1-on-1 customer service. To make up for this, there is now an easy and automatic 30 day return system. 

This does two things:

  1. Makes Davisynth software way more accessible thanks to the lower price
  2. Allows me to focus 100% of my energy on developing features

I chose $12 because this is the price of a burrito where I live. This is also precisely the amount needed to cover costs for the website, compatibility testing with DAWs/OS, and a cup of coffee.
